WE PUT MORE CARE IN MEDICARE
Yes, high-quality and affordable access means the world.
In 2019, Blue KC built on our history of providing trusted Medicare Advantage options to Medicare-eligible individuals in the Kansas City metro area. Our local touch and expertise are making a difference in thousands of lives.
As our Medicare population grows, and as needs change, you can count on Blue KC to keep up. We’re committed to making Kansas City a wonderful place to turn 65 and to live happy and healthy for years to come.
Welcoming more Missourians to the Blue KC Family
This year, we welcomed even more Medicare-eligible residents to Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City. Now, Buchanan County residents have access to our Blue Medicare Advantage Essential (PPO) plan. That means access to more doctors and hospitals nationwide, more prescription drug coverage and more extra benefits — all in a PPO plan with a $0 monthly premium.
Building on a good thing
Supplemental benefits help our members live their lives to the fullest. Members can take control of their health with benefits such as a free SilverSneakers® fitness membership, a 24-hour nurse hotline, acupuncture and therapeutic massage. But that’s just the beginning.
In 2019, Blue KC improved the member experience by adding even more valuable extra benefits to the Blue Medicare Advantage product portfolio. These new benefits give members additional opportunities to pursue greater health and wellness.
Over-the-Counter Benefit
With the new over-the-counter benefit card, members are encouraged to live a healthier lifestyle. The card is preloaded with $25 each month for essential medical supplies that a member may not have otherwise been able to afford.
"Our retirees find true, tangible value using the new Blue Medicare Advantage over-the-counter
benefit card. This card
makes purchasing necessary healthcare related items easy and provides them the opportunity to purchase supplies they
might not have prioritized for themselves previously."

Social Connectedness
The new social connectedness benefit, offered through our partner Solera, provides members with resources to help reduce feelings of loneliness and isolation. This benefit connects members to available clubs, classes and people in the community.
Post-Inpatient Stay
Many seniors are at risk of a hospital readmission after an inpatient stay due to a lack of nutritious meal options at home. The new post-inpatient stay meal benefit will help support the transition to home by delivering nutritious, pre-cooked meals right to the member’s doorstep.
