KANSAS CITY, MO. (May 11, 2020)—Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City (Blue KC) is partnering with The Battle Within to provide Kansas City healthcare providers, first responders, and military veterans with cost-free virtual or in-person behavioral healthcare through the Frontline Therapy Network.

“The doctors, nurses and first responders on the frontlines are seeing the impacts of the pandemic up close and personal every day. They need support for their emotional wellbeing, perhaps more than anyone else,” said Erin Stucky, President and CEO of Blue KC. “Our funding of the Frontline Therapy Network is targeted to give these heroes an avenue to share and process emotions they might otherwise compartmentalize to be strong for their patients.”

The Frontline Therapy Network’s licensed providers are uniquely qualified to provide care to the Kansas City medical personnel, first responders, and veterans on the trauma, stress, discomfort, grief, or other mental health concerns they are experiencing on the frontlines of the COVID-19 response.

“Having access to healthcare services during the COVID-19 outbreak is critical to keeping our community healthy,” said Dr. Greg Sweat, Blue KC’s Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer. “If we each don’t take care of our health during this time, we are going to be worse off in the end. That’s why Blue KC has taken measures to ensure that not only Blue KC members, but members in our community who may not have insurance or are underinsured, and our community’s front line responders have access to virtual and in-person care.”

With the addition of services provided by the Frontline Therapy Network, Blue KC is proud to offer the following telehealth services through the COVID-19 pandemic:

  • Blue KC members can access cost-free telehealth services, including virtual urgent care and behavioral health therapy sessions, until June 30, 2020 by visiting BlueKCVirtualCare.com.
  • Through a partnership with MeMD, Kansas City community members without insurance can access online care for common illnesses and injuries through May 30,2020 by visiting https://www.bluekc.com/access.
  • And now, through the Frontline Therapy Network, healthcare providers, first responders, and veterans can access therapy by visiting https://www.thebattlewithin.org/frontline-therapy-network.
